GIVEAWAY: How I Healed my Nails Naturally After Years of Dips + Damage
If you’re an acrylics, dips or gel kind of babe, ugh. I know exactly how you feel when you think about growing your nails back out to be healthy + strong again. ‘Great, can’t do that because growing them out means they’ll look like haggard + I have this event, that party + those two dinners this month.’ It’s always something. And there’s just something about having nice nails. You feel a million times more put together. So you just keep heading back to the salon every two weeks + doing the same old thing, trying to ignore all the trauma your poor nails are enduring. And pretending it’s normal when your nails feel like they’re ON FIRE under the lights while your treatment is curing. Is this you? It was me, too. So keep reading.

Yup. After seeing how BONE dry + PAPER thin my nails were, I knew I was completely over getting my dips, severely damaging my nails + spending a fortune at the nail salon. So I spent a few months growing out my nails + getting them back to normal. And I have to say, I would never put my fingers near a dip jar EVER. AGAIN. Especially since quitting cold turkey, there have been major reports on those jars being highly infested with bacteria — like, peoples’ skin has been turning reddish purple + falling off. Some have almost lost fingers. No joke. Stay away from those things!! YIKES.

Anyway, the reason I was able to quite those dips cold turkey was due to one special company I already knew + loved: Zoya. Zoya is the longest wearing, 10 free nail polish on the market. They’ve developed the Naked Manicure, where you treat, correct + protect your nails starting from the day you swear off all those damaging polishes at the salon. Moreover, this four step system KEEPS YOUR NAILS LOOKING NORMAL + CUTE while they’re growing back to their healthy ol selves. I swear. This is the only way I was able to grow my nails out.
So how does it work? Let’s start from the beginning.
Step One: The Naked Base coat refines the nail surface + treats damage with a proprietary blend of vitamins, proteins, botanicals + sulfur amino acids that mimic the natural keratin structure of the nail. It supports cellular renewal, oxygenation + hydration, improving both flexibility and strength.
Step Two: The Naked Perfector. You can choose between 6 different shades, which I LOVE because we all have different skin + nail tones. There’s even a white shade for your nail tip. So, the Perfector does just that: it uses optical diffusers, keratin fillers, micronized reflective color pigments + micro thin film formers to create an ultra sheer veil which ensures that the natural vibrancy of the nail is enhanced, rather than simply concealed.
NAIL ‘TIP’: You can layer multiple Perfectors for your perfect shade. They’re pretty sheer. I use two coats here.
Step Three: The Satin Seal Top Coat. This ground-breaking formula provides the closest to natural nail finish as possible. This unique bi-phasal product optically blurs imperfections, blends pigments, levels the nail plate + locks all layers of the manicure with a long wearing satin seal. It also contains UV filters to prevent yellowing + to shield from free radicals. AKA, it’s like that concealer that melts perfectly into the dark circles under your eyes.
NAIL ‘TIP’: You can stop here for a natural, semi-matte sheen. Don’t forget to roll the bottle between your hands for 20 seconds to activate that bi-phasal formula pre-application.
Step Four: If you like a shinier finish, use the Glossy Seal.
Whether you finish at step three or step four, you have to use the Fast Drying Drops — well, you don’t actually have to. I’m just really obsessed with them — they cure your polish in just a few minutes + they prevent your polish from bubbling. They’re girl-on-go magic.
Here is a list of that proprietary blend I just raved about:
Vitamin B5/Panthenol to improve flexibility + decrease brittleness
Vitamin E to support T cell renewal
Red Algae to improve micro-circulation
Ginko to increase oxygen exchange (which your nails probably haven't received in a very long time, since acrylics, gels + dips block your nails from receiving the oxygen they need!)
Sulfur Amino Acid/Protein Complex to fill in pitting + cracking
Some other quick things to add to your Healthy Nails Mission:
Take prenatal vitamins
Wear dish gloves while cleaning your kitchen + bathroom
Use cuticle oil
So that’s it! This system is extremely easy, it’s very efficient (takes 5 minutes to apply) + I’m still using it even though my nails are back to looking like I never tried a dip in my life. My nails are BACK baby!!
Side note: when I do make a trip to the nail salon, I still bring along my personal NM set for my technician to apply. And if I want to use a regular polish, I swap it out for The Perfector (step two), sandwiching it between the other NM polishes. This system keeps my nails strong, manicured + healthy 24/7. Simply put: I LOVE the Naked Manicure + am so grateful to have found it!
